Sony Ericsson W8 will run on Android Éclair 2.1 version
Sony Ericsson W8, the first Android Walkman phone was recently announced by Sony Ericsson Indonesia. Available in three different color options, Azure Blue, Metallic Red or Iconic Orange, this eye catching model is a version of the Xperia X8 released last year.
The features are almost identical: a 600MHz processor, a 3″ display (320 x 480), 168MB of RAM, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a 3.2megapixel camera with digital zoom and geo tagging. We should not forget about the Stereo FM radio with RDS, MP3/AAC/MP4 player or the additional microSD card which could provide up to 16 GB.
Its Standard battery, Li-Po 900 mAh (BST-37) offers up to 350 h (stand-by) or up to 8 h (talk-time). But what disappoints us is the fact that it runs on Android Éclair 2.1 version. Very confusing we must say, because in 2011 we expect at something much better. Sony Ericsson W8 will be released in Asia sometime in Q2 this year. There is no word about the pricing yet, but it should be pretty affordable.
